Nutritional Value of Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha is an Ayurvedic herb. Which is also known as Asgandha. This plant smells like horse urine. Hence it is known as Ashwagandha or Asgandha.

It is a plant of the Withania family. The scientific name of Ashwagandha is Withania somnifera. Its two species are found in India and a total of 10 species are known all over the world.

Ashwagandha is a plant that grows at an altitude of 1500 meters above sea level, but now it is being cultivated on a large scale in different states of India in view of its health capabilities.


The nutritional profile of Ashwagandha powder is very impressive. All the important vitamins and minerals are found inside Ashwagandha. The main ones are vitamin C, iron and calcium.

You also get fiber and carbohydrates inside it. Along with this, protein is found in Ashwagandha.

The fruits, seeds, leaves, stem and roots of Ashwagandha are full of medicinal properties. Mainly Ashwagandha is extremely beneficial in problems related to hair, brain, skin and reproductive system.
